Tooth Extractions in Edmonton

Tooth Extractions

Nobody wants to lose a tooth. But sometimes, taking one out is the healthiest choice. A tooth might be too decayed to fix, cracked deep under the gum, or crowding the ones beside it. When that happens, an extraction can bring relief and keep the rest of your mouth strong.

At our clinic, we move slowly. You’ll know what’s happening before it starts, and you’ll have time to ask anything you want. The freezing goes in, we check that you’re completely numb, and only then do we begin. Most people feel some pressure, but no sharp pain.

When a Tooth Needs to Come Out

There are a few common reasons a dentist might recommend removal:

Z

Severe decay or infection that can’t be repaired.

Z

A break or crack below the gumline.

Z

Too little space for other teeth to grow properly.

Z

Impacted or uncomfortable wisdom teeth.

Each case is different, so we look closely at your X-rays and the shape of the roots before we decide.

After the Extraction

Once the tooth is out, we place gauze to control bleeding and give you clear, written instructions. Ice packs help with swelling. Soft food for a day or two keeps things easy. In most cases, you’ll be back to normal routines within a few days.

We’ll see you for a short follow-up, and if you’re missing a tooth in a visible area, we can talk about options for replacement — maybe a bridge or implant later on. There’s no rush. The main thing is letting your mouth heal properly.

It’s never fun to hear you need an extraction, but we’ll make sure it’s calm, comfortable, and handled with care from start to finish.
